This horrific and symbolic death struck New York artist Werner Thomas with such impact as to his dedicating over 10 years of his artistic career to the creation of an on-going stunning series of paintings, drawings, prints, and a wall piece collectively titled "OMAYRA". Television coverage, her story, but most importantly her photos in the press, served as a genesis to the series.
